Manuscript Preparation Guidelines to Authors

Language

Manuscripts should be submitted in British English and consistently written so. Publisher is not responsible for ensuring the language quality of the manuscript.

Spacing

Spaces of 1.5 should be maintained throughout the manuscript.

Original research article (3,000 – 5,000 words):

Manuscript with a focus on themes such as environmental conservation, natural resources management and rural development covering the specific areas of agriculture, animal science, forestry, wildlife science and nature conservation, which are likely to be of interest to wide range of scholars reflecting pertinent issues will be given priority. Manuscript should have Title page followed by Abstract, Key words, Main body, Acknowledgement and References. The main body of the manuscript should include the Introduction (theoretical framework or appropriate context of the study, research question, purpose etc.), Materials and Method, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion.

Review article (3,000 – 5,000 words):

Articles, which include book reviews and commentaries, indicating outstanding issues to be addressed and directions for future works pertaining to issues under discussion may be submitted as reviews. The review articles need not necessarily follow the structure of BJNRD articles.

Short communication (1,500 – 3,000 words):

Original article containing less than 3,000 words may be submitted as a Short Communication. The structure should be same as that of the original research article. The word count should include all parts of the article (title, abstract, keywords, body of the text, figures, tables and references including authors’ affiliation).

Notes (1,000 – 1,500 words):

Short notes and reports such as new records of plants and animals can be submitted which may not follow the main structure.

Title page

The title page should include: The name(s) of the author(s), A concise and informative title, The affiliation(s) and address(es) of the author(s), ORCID number of all authors, and valid e-mail address of the corresponding author. Title should be in bold.

Abstract

The abstract should not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified references and should contain 150 to 250 words. Abstract should be indented by 0.2 inch on the Left and Right margins, and centre justified. The abstract should be preferably written in a paragraph. Latin name(s), if any, should be italicised.

Keywords

Keywords should be four to six words alphabetically ordered.

Text formatting

Manuscripts should be submitted in Word compatible format. Title should be in bold. The use of font should be normal (12 – point Times New Roman with 1.5 line spacing). Page numbering should be automatic.

Headings and sub-headings

Headings should be in bold and sub-headings in italics and level of sub-heading should not be more than two levels of displayed headings.

Abbreviations

Abbreviations should be defined at first mention and used consistently thereafter.

Paragraphs

All paragraphs, except those immediately below the headings and sub-headings, should start with 0.2 point indent. Do not keep space between paragraphs. All paragraphs should be centre justified. However, there should be space before and after each heading and before sub-heading.

Margin

All sides (top, left, bottom, and right) should have a normal margin of 1 inch.

Latin and vernacular names

All Latin names of species should be in italics and follow scientific rules. When used for the first instance, Latin name should be supported by Authority. Vernacular names also should be italicised when used for the first time.

Acknowledgments

Acknowledgement of people, grants, funds, etc. (if any), should be placed in a separate section before the Reference list. Names of funding organisations should be written in full.

References

Citation: For three or more authors, citation should be abbreviated with use of et al., e.g. (Nidup et al., 2005) or alternately based on sentence construction as Nidup et al. (2005). Citations for authors up to two should include the names of authors, e.g. Nidup and Dorji (2005) or alternately as (Nidup and Dorji, 2005). In case of more papers by same authors in a year, use suffixed alphabets, e.g. (Nidup et al., 2005a; 2005b) or alternately as Nidup et al. (2005a; 2005b). In case of multiple citations, use chronological order starting from the oldest to the latest, e.g., Nidup et al. (2005), Tashi et al. (2009) and Wangchuk (2020) or alternately (Nidup et al., 2005; Tashi et al., 2009; Wangchuk, 2020).

Quotes: Short quotes less than 40 words should be cited with “double quotation” marks. Long quotes (40 or more words) should be indented 0.2 inch on Left and Right margins with double quotation marks, followed by citation and page number(s) at the end.

Referencing: References should be arranged in chronological and alphabetical orders. Depending on types of sources, following styles of referencing should be followed. Only those materials cited in the text should be included in the References.

Tables

Captions of tables should be on top of the tables and should be referred in the text as Table 1, Table 2 etc. Tables should be less than five inches wide and eight inches long. However, if the table is too long and continues to the next page, insert the table number and title on every page in which the table appears and insert (Cont…) in parenthesis after the title of the table. All tables should be annexed at the end of the Manuscript with Table number and caption.

Figures

Captions should be at the bottom of figures. Figures should be referred in the text as Figure 1, Figure 2 and 3 etc. Figures should be submitted as TIF or JPEG files with at least 300 dpi or higher. Photographs should be included as Figures. Size of photograph should not exceed 1 MB. All figures should be annexed at the end of the Manuscript with Figure number and caption.
